JOURNAL PROMPTS FOR THE NEW YEAR
Are you looking for the best journal prompts for the new year? I know many people like to plan out their journal prompts for whatever season it is and the New Year will be here before you know it! Make sure you know what you will be writing about.
I guess before we talk about the best journal prompts for the new year, we should ask this question: Do you journal? If you haven’t started journaling yet, you should ask yourself a couple of questions to see how journaling could benefit you:
Why Should I Journal?
Journaling is very therapeutic. It is a great practice for any man, woman, or child. It is a great thing to do for those who deal with anger management issues, mental health issues, or any other things that weigh on our minds. Journaling can help you deal with anger, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and more.
Simply put, it helps you exercise your mind. It is also just one of the best ways that a person can work on processing feelings and emotions. If you ever struggle with self-expression or trying to figure out how to best deal with just about any issue you are dealing with, journaling can help you.
Should I make journaling my New Year’s Resolution?
Are you setting New Year’s Resolutions this year? I go back and forth on resolutions. Sometimes I set them, sometimes I think they aren’t in my best interest. This year will be a year that I will set a resolution.
My resolution for next year is to start journaling. That’s right. I’m not making any resolutions to lose weight or make loads of money or any of the other countless resolutions that often lead to disappointment, but I know that I can journal and I know that journaling will improve my life. That is why journaling is my one and only New Year’s Resolution for the new year.
Journaling is, in my opinion, the most enjoyable yet beneficial resolution that someone can make. This goes for adults and children alike. I recently read that nearly 80% of New Year’s Resolutions that are set actually fail within two months. Journaling is a resolution that you know you can do. You can write a little bit every day, every week, or even every month. The point is, you can do it.
The trick to succeeding at your New Year’s Resolution is to create a plan. In this plan you need to include daily actions that are, in themselves, motivating. The beauty of making journaling your New Year’s Resolution is that many people actually use a journal to help keep them on track with their other resolutions. If people use a journal to keep them on track of their resolutions, you know you can succeed in your resolutions to start journaling.
What are the best tips for journaling in the new year?
- Choose how often you are going to journal. Daily journaling is great, but maybe you don’t want to commit to that amount of journaling yet. Even people who choose to journal weekly have found tremendous benefits.
- Decide how much time you have to journal. Be realistic about how much time you actually have to dedicate to writing. If you don’t have an extra half hour, don’t commit to writing for a half hour. Instead, aim for a smaller amount of time. Everyone has an extra 5 minutes, right?
- Get rid of distractions during your journaling time. Turn off your phone, turn off the television, head into a quiet room, etc.
